Labor Day is the day we celebrate the hard-working men and women of America and their efforts to make this country as amazing as it is. Labor Day was officially made a holiday by President Grover Cleveland in 1894. It is a day of rest and relaxation for some and for us, it is time to party!
This year has been filled with unexpected challenges and we all deserve a bit of fun and comfort this weekend. Enjoying good food in great company is a surefire way to have a blast this Labor Day! If you are undecided about what to take to the party or what to make, here are some recipe suggestions that we think you will love.
SEVEN LAYER DIP
This is an absolute crowd-pleaser and so simple to make! Who doesn’t love chips and dip?
LOADED BAKED POTATO SALAD
Potato salad is always a feature favorite of a cookout and this one is simply delicious!
DOUBLE COLA BBQ SAUCE
Now this BBQ Sauce will be the highlight of the day! Combining the savory flavors of the Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke with the perfect sweet of Double Cola will wow the crowd and their taste buds.
1 cup Double Cola
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/4 cup A-1 steak sauce
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan and gradually bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat slightly to obtain a gentle simmer. Simmer the sauce reduced by 1/4, 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer the sauce to clean jars and let cool to room temp. Once cooled, refrigerate until serving. The sauce will keep for several months, refrigerated.
No party or celebration is complete without dessert and we highly suggest this delicious cake featuring our Strawberry Lemonade SKI!
